Lisa Marie Presley and soon to be ex-husband Michael Lockwood’s upcoming divorce and custody case has taken a nasty turn according to Fox News reports.
Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Lockwood are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, August 3 to begin battling out the details of their divorce and the custody of the couple’s 11-year-old twin daughters Harper and Finely.
The couple split back in 2016 after 10-years of marriage. Details surrounding their split have been quite nasty, to say the least. Presley over the years has been forced to reveal private personal details including her financial status, and long battle with addiction.
It has been a tough time for the only daughter of the legendary “King of Rock and Roll” Elvis Presley. Things took a very hard turn for Lisa Marie on July 12 with the shocking and unexpected death of her only son Benjamin Keough.
As previously reported by Hollywood News Daily, Benjamin Keough, 27, passed away on July 12 from complications of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Keough’s death was ruled a suicide.
Presley’s rep confirmed Benjamin Keough’s death via statement adding that Lisa Marie “was inconsolable” and “beyond devastated.” Now it appears that Lisa’s ex-Michael Lockwood has decided to use the Presley family tragedy against Lisa in the estranged couple’s upcoming divorce and custody case.
Michael Lockwood filed court docs stating that he is concerned that Lisa Marie may relapse. Lockwood claims that he is worried that Benjamin Keough’s tragic death will be too much for Lisa Marie to bear and worries she may return to “drug and alcohol dependency.”
Lockwood is asking that the court strip Lisa Marie of primary custody of the couple’s twin daughters, Harper and Finley due to his concerns.
“Lisa Marie Presley’s son shot and killed himself in her home (Although she was not there at the time.) With all due sympathy and respect, this creates a new and unaddressed twofold problem: the safety of the children and the greater likelihood of [Presley] to relapse into drug and alcohol dependency,” the filing states.
While Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Lockwood are preparing for court this week it is predicted to be a very nasty and brutal confrontation between the former couple with the trial possibly lasting up to a full month before reaching a settlement agreement.
