Lisa Marie Presley has released a statement about the death of her son, Benjamin Keough, on what would have been his birthday. This is the first time that Lisa has spoken out about her son’s suicide following his death back in July.

Presley released the heartbreaking statement via her Instagram account on Wednesday. She posted her thoughts along with a photo of Keough celebrating a past birthday with a party hat on his head as he readied to blow out his candles.

Lisa Marie shares a heartbreaking statement about her late son

“My beautiful beautiful angel. I worshipped the ground you walked on, on this earth and now in Heaven. My heart and soul went with you. The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day. I will never be the same. Please wait for me my love, and hold my hand while I stay to continue to protect and raise your little sisters and to be here for Riley. I know you would want that. Happy Birthday my sweet sweet Boy. You were much to good for this world,” the post read.

Keough died at the age of 27-years-old on July 12, 2020. Following his passing, Presley’s rep  Roger Widynowski told People Magazine that the singer of the late King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, was taking the death extremely hard, revealing that she was “beyond devastated.”

“She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life,” Widynowski added.

Benjamin Keough is buried at Graceland alongside Elvis Presley

Following Keough’s death, the family held a private funeral before his eventual burial at Graceland next to his grandfather, Elvis. Benjamin was the second child of Lisa Marie with her former husband, Danny Keough. They also share a daughter together, actress Riley Keough. Presley also has 11-year-old twin daughters from another relationship. The couple divorced just two years after Benjamin was born.

Lisa Marie is the only daughter of Elvis. She was born in 1968 and was a young child when her father tragically died. She followed in her father’s musical footsteps as a singer and songwriter. In the past her relationships have made headlines. In addition to Keough, she’s been married to actor Nicholas Cage, singer Michael Jackson, and producer Michael Lockwood.
