The family of country legend Loretta Lynn has been forced to make a sad and difficult decision concerning the care of the 87-year-old singer. According to Radar Online Loretta’s health issues have become so dire that the family has made the decision to move her into an assisted living facility.
Loretta Lynn has been in declining health since 2017 after suffering a debilitating stroke, Since then it has been one health issue after the next for the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” hit maker.
Following the severe stroke which left Loretta with limited speech and motor skills, the singer took a nasty tumble leaving her with a broken hip.
“It’s so sad to see Loretta breaking down,” a source told Radar. “She
needs a walker or a wheelchair to get around now, and on top of that, she suffers from glaucoma, so her vision is severely compromised.
Lynn’s family now feel that given Loretta’s poor health and vision it is now time for her to remain under constant care for her own safety.
As previously reported, in January, Loretta Lynn was forced to move from her beloved Tennessee ranch due to her rapidly failing health to take up residence just minutes away from the hospital ‘in case of emergencies.’
“Loretta already has in-house nursing care, and of course, her four kids are there with her most every day. But there’s still a fear that another fall is going to kill her, and she would be better off in a facility where she can be monitored at all times,” the source said.
The source reveals that most likely Loretta will be moved into the assisted living facility within the next few weeks. Reportedly, despite her struggles, Loretta still continues to talk about performing on stage again.
In April the family, despite their major concern allowed Loretta to take the stage during her 87th birthday concert in April. Since then, Loretta Lynn reportedly refuses to give up on the notion of hitting the stage again, said the friend, and “her family allows her to dream.”
Added the pal: “She talks to them about booking some concert dates.
But of course, with Loretta Lynn’s health and how unsteady she is on her feet, it’s just an impossibility. “
