Matthew Perry’s tragic death has rocked Hollywood. The actor was said to be living his best life before his passing, and was even reportedly working on a biopic based off of his memoir. Perry, who was best known for playing the role of Chandler Bing on “Friends,” allegedly had an actor picked out to portray him in the film as well.
Matthew Perry was working on a movie about his life before his death
Matthew Perry fans were stunned when they heard the news of his death in late October. Since his passing, heartfelt tributes to the actor have appeared online, and new details about his life have been made public. One detail, was that he was looking to make a movie about his life. Perry allegedly planned to use his book, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing” as a basis for the biopic.
Athenna Crosby, who was seen with Perry just hours before his death, told Entertainment Tonight about the actor’s plans. She also revealed that the TV star wanted his “17 Again” co-star, Zac Efron, to play him in the film.
“He said that he wanted to make a movie about his life. He had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie, and he said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version [of himself] and that he was gonna ask him soon to do that.” Crosby added, “He was just looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction and really championing that cause to help more people. So he was so optimistic and happy about everything that he wanted to do.”
Perry was reportedly in good spirits just hours before his death
Just one day before his death, Athenna Crosby was seen having a meal with Matthew Perry. During the outing, Crosby says that Perry was in good spirits and excited about life. Crosby called the actor “optimistic about the future,” adding that he was looking to have a career comeback.
“He was talking about how there’s been a public resurgence of interest in him lately and how he was hoping to utilize that to have a second act in his career. He was happy as a clam. So, that’s the person that I spoke to,” she said.
Sadly, Matthew Perry’s career and life were cut short. He was found dead in his jacuzzi at his home on October 28. The actor was just 54 years old at the time of his death.
