Michelle Trachtenberg was planning to make a career comeback in the days before her tragic death. The actress, who was known for her roles on TV shows like “Gossip Girl” and films such as “17 Again” and “Harriet The Spy,” was reported dead at the age of 39 this week. Now, sources claim that the Trachtenberg was in talks to re-team with co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar for the upcoming “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” reboot.
A source close to the situation revealed that Michelle Trachtenberg had been in contact with execs and was weighing a possible return as Buffy’s younger sister, Dawn Summers, in the upcoming reboot of the fan favorite TV series. Sadly, it looks like Buffy will have to go on without her Dawn as the story of the slayer continues, per The Daily Mail. Gellar was allegedly in strong support of bringing Trachtenberg on for the project.
“Michelle Trachtenberg was in talks to return to Buffy the reboot, and she was incredibly hopeful about it,” a source tells the outlet. “Sarah Michelle obviously felt that the reboot would need her as much as it needed Sarah.”

Fans were hopeful that she would be cast and Michelle expressed interest and excitement at the opportunity,” the source concluded.
It was reported that Michelle was found dead by her mother after having had a recent liver transplant. There are fears that the transplant had something to do with her death. However, there has been no confirmation about the official cause.
