Muhammad Ali dead one of the greatest boxers of all times died on Friday night in a Phoenix hospital. The boxing great was admitted on Thursday following respiratory issues. He was 74 years old.

Muhammad Ali mourned throughout the world

Family spokesman Bob Gunnell confirmed Ali’s death stating, “After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening.” The legendary boxing legend spent the last three decades suffering from Parkinson’s Disease, a progressive neurological condition that slowly robbed him of both his legendary verbal grace and his physical dexterity.

He had checked into the hospital on Thursday and reps said he was in fair condition, but on Friday his health worsened throughout the day. NBC News first reported his death, quoting a family spokesperson. As previously reported, just twenty-four hours after Ali was hospitalized in a Phonix, Arizona hospital he has taken a rapid turn for the worse.

Muhammad Ali battled health issues for three decades

An inside source close to the Ali family has revealed that his vitals “are terrible” at the moment, and he is currently still relying on medical help to breathe properly. Ali’s team of doctors was in a discussion about transporting Muhammad to another area of the hospital where he is currently staying but decided that moving him in his current condition “potentially could be deadly,” and the transfer was called off.

Another insider added, “Doctors are telling the family that it likely won’t be long until he passes away.”

Nicknamed “The Greatest,” Ali retired from boxing in 1981 with a 56-5 record. Ali’s diagnosis of Parkinson’s came about three years after he retired. He currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona. Ali has been married four times and has seven daughters and two sons. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ali family during this difficult time. A funeral service is planned in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
