With the NBA trade rumors flying, could Tim Hardaway Jr. be heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers? We are about one month away from the NBA Trade Deadline. This part of the season is almost as exciting and stressful as the playoffs!
With good teams looking to get even better, and others looking to make a big splash things are sure to heat up. One team that should be active in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline is the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are a great young team that is looking to make a name for themselves in the playoffs this year. According to an NBA insider. The Cavs have been keeping a close eye on the Dallas Mavericks’ veteran shooting guard.
Should The Cavs Make The Trade?
“League sources have reaffirmed to me that Hardaway is indeed available and that it’s essentially up to the Cavaliers if they are prepared to take on the two years and $34.1 million left on Hardaway’s contract beyond this season.” reported by Si.com.
The most likely Cavalier to be traded for Hardaway Jr. would be Caris LeVert. LeVert is a streaky bench player who is a decent three-and-D player. This is a tricky spot for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hardaway’s contract is not a pretty one. On the other hand, he has been a big part of some of the Mavs’ wins this season due to his great shooting. For the Mavs’ LeVert’s expiring contract might be more manageable than having Hardaway Jr. locked up for two more seasons.
It has also been rumored that both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Mavs have been in contact with the Pistons. Maybe these teams could work out a three-team deal that makes everyone happy. Only time will tell as the weeks leading up to the deadline are sure to be interesting.
Perfect Fit For The Cavs?
Tim Hardaway Jr. could be just what the Cleveland Cavaliers need. Adding another veteran presence in the locker room. As well as a solid shooter for Mitchell and Garland to feed the ball to. The Cavaliers will definitely be looking to add some new pieces to the roster to try to make a deep playoff push.
The Cavs are currently the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26-15. This Cavs team can be dangerous when they get going. They just need one more piece to pull it all together. Could Hardaway Jr. be that piece? Only time will tell.
