“Harry Potter” fans rejoice. HBO Max is reportedly developing a brand new series that will feature a very beloved character from the franchise, per We Got This Covered.
The outlet reveals that they have very reliable sources who claim that the streamer is working on a new “Harry Potter” prequel that is all about Severus Snape, the Hogwarts teacher who was famously played by the late Alan Rickman in the film franchise.
Fans may remember that Snape has a very interesting story. Although he was considered a villain early on, he was eventually revealed to be a childhood friend of Harry’s mother, Lilly Potter, and always carried a torch for her. During Harry’s years at Hogwarts, it was Snape that looked out for him, although he never revealed that he was doing so. After learning the truth, Harry went on to name one of his sons Albus Severus after both Dumbledore and Snape.
Currently, there is no word about what the show’s plot could entail. However, Snape has always been a very intricate character and his backstory may be more interesting than fans originally thought. Perhaps, viewers will get a glimpse of Snape’s time at Hogwarts as a student. If that’s the case, Harry’s parents, James and Lilly Potter, would likely also be featured on the show.

Are more ‘Harry Potter’ shows in the works as well?
In addition, other ideas for “Harry Potter”-related television shows are also floating around, including a series about Hermione that may star actress Emma Watson. However, there are no confirmed details about either series yet. Although, fans are already excited about the possibility of any new “Harry Potter” content.
“Oh I hope this is true,” one Twitter user admitted. “Well he is the most interesting character,” another stated. “YESS,” a third person wrote.
However, not everyone was in agreement with a Snape prequel. Many other fans spoke out in hopes of getting a series about the Marauders, which was a group featuring young Hogwarts students, James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. “The Prisoner of Azkaban” touched on the foursome’s friendship, but it seems that many want to see more of the group.
While nothing is set in stone, it seems that when and if an announcement about a “Harry Potter” TV series is made, fans will have plenty to say about it.
