A couple based in New York took to social media this week to share their love story, claiming that they were the “real-life version of Belly and Conrad” from The Summer I Turned Pretty. The woman, named Ellie, says that she and her boyfriend have known each other for most of their lives, and that she even had a crush on his brother at one point.
However, this New York couple didn’t stop there. They explained why their love story has several similarities to that of Belly and Conrad, and even features their own version of Jeremiah from the hit Amazon Prime series, The Summer I Turned Pretty.
“We grew up as family friends. He’s three years older than me. We met when I was 9-ish. So, he has a younger brother, Stan, that’s kinda like Jeremiah, that when they first moved here from Australia, I had a crush on,” the woman says. “We used to go on summer family vacations to The Hamptons. Our dynamic was always like, he would never see me as that. I always had a crush. When our hands used to touch I used to get flutters in my heart,” she continued.
‘Real-Life’ Belly and Conrad From New York Share Their Story
“He never thought that we would ever end up together. A couple years later, we were at a party. He was really protective over me and we were kinda drunk, sitting on a couch. We almost kissed,” she added of their feelings for each other.
“Flash forward a couple years,” the man interjects. He reveals that after seeing her again as an adult that his thoughts about her completely changed. “Now we’ve been dating for a year and a half,” she says. “So yeah, we kind of are like Belly and Conrad,” she added.
Ellie went on to reveal that her boyfriend, Sid, has yet to watch the show. Of course, because their story is similar, they planned to watch it together. It’s a cute little TikTok that caught the attention of fans. Even the official TSITP account commented on the video!
The Summer I Turned Pretty Fans React
“I’m so here for this,” one person commented. “Ahh I’m not freaking out,” another shared. “I smiled the whole video, I love you both and I don’t even know you guys,” a third person wrote. “Jeremiah’s punching the air somewhere,” a fourth social media user stated.
It seems that The Summer I Turned Pretty might not be a total work of fiction after all. Perhaps were are more real-life Belly and Conrad’s in the world, and the New York couple sharing their story will inspire others to do the same.
