The Ouija Board Museum is located in Salem, Massachusetts, and it is the only one in the world. The creepy museum is located on Essex Street in downtown Salem and is a massive hit with tourists visiting the spooky and historic city. But beware, according to its owner, John Kozik, the establishment also has a reputation for causing creepy chaos with visitors.
The History of the Salem Ouija Board Museum
Ouija Board Museum Owner John Kozik reveals his love of and interest. Per The Sun, Kozik says he loved his grandmother’s board. It became a lifelong passion for him. He reveals that he began collecting the boards decades ago and now owns hundreds.

John says he spent many years searching for the perfect location to open the museum and, in 2019, finally settled on the ideal location in Salem, Massachusetts. Kozik says he has never seen anything unusual during his time in Salem. However, he admits that the Ouija Boards in the museum tend to have an adverse effect on some tourists.
Tourists Suffer Spooky Health Issues in The Salem Ouija Board Museum
John Kozik says sometimes it becomes too much for some people to handle, and they have to leave the museum during the tour.
“It’s a daily occurrence where people have to leave the museum because of the pressure they feel in their head or their chest. People walk around with their heads tilted back just from being in the room,” he told the outlet.
He says some Ouija Board Museum visitors start to feel sick, and some have even passed out. However, this is not the only paranormal issue that has occurred. He admits that some visitors have revealed that after they take photos, the pictures come out blurry, or their camera malfunctions altogether.
“I can’t explain how people take photographs pretty consistently of things that come back blurry or the phones malfunction, and they have to restart them,” he said.
No Two Ouija Boards Are the Same
There is a long history and some pretty chilling tales attached to every single Ouija Board in the museum. While every board is inherently a bit spooky because of its purpose, some boards have especially chilling histories.
John shares a few stories. he says he was sent a few boards in the mail to add to his collection. When the package arrived, he says it was plastered in caution tape because the previous owners had such a spooky and negative experience with the boards.
Their son allegedly found the witchboard and a hellish chaos unfolded. They say after their son played with the board, strange events began to take place. They claim their son began “eating the furniture and speaking in tongues, speaking to something he couldn’t see. And he tried to kill one of the siblings,” Kozik said.
Salem Ouija Board Museum Owner Shares Warnings
John strongly urges those in negative headspaces should stay away from the boards at all costs. “If you fear the board. I would suggest you don’t use the [it] under those circumstances because you’re probably not going to have the best experience using it,” he said.
Over the decades, there have been hundreds of myths, superstitions, and warnings passed down throughout the generations regarding the use of spirit boards. Keep in mind that everyone has and is entitled to their own belief and opinions on the subject. Most will, however, throw down a word of warning, whether it is used as an innocent game. Or something spiritual or something more sinister.

YouTube creator Exploring with Josh spent the night in the spooky Ouija Board Museum in Salem with his paranormal partner Tyler Reynolds and videoed their experience.
Josh, who prefers to keep his last name private, captioned the video writing, “We had some crazy things happen, but also we used a Ouija Board that was given to the owners by mail that someone used who killed their entire family because he said the Board made him do it..”
