Outlander Season 8 will conclude the story of Claire and Jamie. The series has officially been renewed for Season 8, following the news that Season 7 would debut in Summer 2023. However, the eighth season will be the last one for the beloved series.
It’s unclear how the story will officially wrap up. However, fans are completely invested in the characters. Over the past six seasons, viewers have fallen in love with Claire and Jamie’s story and their epic romance. The series has traveled through so many time periods and brought to life incredible adventures. However, all good things must come to an end.
Outlander Season 8 will be the final season
“For nearly a decade Outlander has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion,” Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for STARZ said. “But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore this dynamic world and its origin story.”
According to People Magazine, Outlander Season 7 will have 16 episodes to help ease fans into the eighth and final season. Meanwhile, Outlander Season 8 will have just 10 episodes which will allow viewers to say goodbye to Claire, Jamie, and the rest of the gang. In those 10 episodes, the story will come to an end.
Outlander prequel has been confirmed
However, the Outlander universe isn’t going to be gone for long. Starz has already announced that a prequel series is in the works. The show will be titled Blood Of My Blood. The prequel will follow the young lives of Jamie’s parents and family in their earlier days in Scotland.
Of course, viewers had plenty to say about the end of Outlander. Many were sad, and other understood that it was time to complete the series. However, all fans seem to want an epic ending to a truly remarkable story.
“We knew it was going to happen sooner rather than later but I’m so happy that the cast & creative team have 1 more season after this one to finish the story the way they want,” one fan tweeted. “I beg you give Claire and Jamie the happy ending they truly deserve!” another commented. “Outlander is ending i’m going to pass out I knew this day was coming but not this soon,” a third fan stated.
Outlander Season 8 may be the last, but fans can still look forward to Season 7 this summer.
