The head of the Galera Educational Institution in Galeras, Columbia, Hugo Torres, says 28 female students are allegedly playing with an Ouija Board. The group was conducting a seance when they all began suffering from anxiety and other symptoms.

School personnel accompanied the terrified girls to the hospital. Torres stated, “Given the cases, a series of comments were unleashed on the community that, rather than helping to resolve the situation, led to confusion and an adverse environment for our work.

“The students were transported to the local municipal hospital according to protocols in place. School personnel was on hand with the students during the evaluation process. In addition, the respective parents and guardians were informed of the situation at the time.”

Parents Blame Use of Ouija Board For Illness

According to the New York Post, school officials became alarmed when the young females fell ill. However, information about the students’ diagnoses has yet to be released. However, parents are angry and scared. Many of the student’s parents blame the in-school use of Ouija Boards.

One such parent said, “I work here in a hospital kiosk, and every day I see three or four children arrive after fainting.”

“Parents, you have to move and investigate what’s happening at school because our children cannot continue in this situation. Our children always have a good breakfast, and it cannot be said that what’s happening is due to lack of food,” the mother added.

The head of the school, Torres, has since accused community members of spreading rumors and stoking hysteria within the city. “Given the reported cases, a series of comments were unleashed on the community that, rather than helping to resolve the situation, led to confusion and an adverse environment for our work,” he said.

However, the Galeras medical professionals are baffled at this time. They are unsure what may have caused the 28 girls to fall ill at this time. Torres said he would release more information but not until the medical diagnoses to provide further reliable information,” explained Torres.

History of the Ouija Board

The first Ouija Board, also known as a spirit board, was created in the United States in 1886 in Baltimore, Maryland. Spiritualists in the U.S. believed that the dead could contact the living. They reportedly used a talking board very similar to a modern Ouija board at their camps in the U.S. state of Ohio in 1886 to enable faster communication with spirits ostensibly.

The Ouija Board/Talking Board’s description states it is a magical device that answers questions “about the past, present and future with marvelous accuracy.” I promised “never-failing amusement and recreation for all the classes,” a link “between the known and unknown, the material and immaterial.”

Throughout the years, various religious sectors have believed that Ouija Boards are a divination tool that exposes users to serious spiritual dangers. Therefore, they warn against the risks of using the boards.

They believe “demons and evil will masquerade as departed loved ones to gain possession.” Even paranormal investigators are leery about using them. This is not the first time such an event involving children has reportedly occurred. In 2016, 100 young schoolchildren were allegedly involved in mass demonic possession.

A quick Google search will lead interested parties down a massive rabbit hole of information. There are thousands of pages where users share their horrific experiences. Whether you believe in the power and dangers of the Ouija Board or not, one thing remains. Something bizarre and unexplainable finds the 28 girls suffering from medical issues.

It is unclear when the school plans to update the public on the students’ condition.  Authorities have not confirmed whether a police investigation is underway. Is there a simple explanation lurking about? Or do you believe there is something paranormal and sinister to it?
