Prince Philip Hospitalized In London

Prince Philip hospitalized

Royal Family enthusiasts are sending their well wishes to Prince Philip this week after it was revealed he’d been hospitalized in London.

The 99-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II is said to be in “good spirits” following his admittance into treatment. BBC reports that The Duke of Edinburgh has been feeling unwell for a short period of time, which prompted his doctor to advise hospitalization as a “precautionary measure.”

Buckingham Palace released an update to the public about Philip’s health following his entrance into the hospital earlier this week.

Prince Philip hospitalized on advice from his doctor

“His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the King Edward VII hospital in London, on Tuesday evening. The duke’s admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s doctor, after feeling unwell. The duke is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and rest,” the statement reads.

A royal source also revealed that Philip was taken to the hospital by car and that his visit was not considered to be an emergency. In addition, the condition is unrelated to Covid-19. Both Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, 94, received the Covid-19 vaccination last month.

During Philip’s hospitalization, Queen Elizabeth is set to remain at Windsor Castle, where the couple has been quarantining due to the pandemic. Since that time, they’ve cut down their household staff to a select few. Those remaining under the employ of the pair have been nicknamed “HMS Bubble.”

Unfortunately, The Duke is no stranger to spending time in the hospital. He was kept under observation back in December 2019 due to a “pre-existing condition.” Again, his doctor advised seeking medical attention as a precaution for his illness.

Philip was released from treatment just in time for Christmas Eve that year and immediately headed to the family’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where he spent the holiday with his wife.

The Duke retired from his royal duties in 2017

The outlet reports that Philip decided to officially retire from his royal duties in 2017. At the age of 96, he opted to no longer attend things like charity events, a right which he’s surely earned after 70 years supporting The Queen.
