It looks like reports that Prince was suffering from the flu before he died may be false. Multiple sources have confirmed to TMZ that the singer had suffered a drug overdose just one week before his death.
Prince Treated For Drug Overdose 1 Week Before Death
According to the report, when Prince’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing last week, it wasn’t because the singer was suffering from flu like symptoms, but he was treated for a drug overdose, and it was pretty serious.
Prince was allegedly given a “save shot,” which is typically administered to a person who has overdosed on opiates. When Prince arrived at the hospital he was told he needed to stay in the facility for at least 24 hours. He demanded a private room. When the hospital wasn’t able to provide one, he left for home just three hours later. Prince flew home, reportedly not looking good.
Police Investigating Prince’s Cause Of Death
Police are trying to get records from the hospital to try and help determine the cause of Prince’s death. A toxicology screen is said to be underway, but it will take about two weeks to get any results back.
Fans are currently mourning the shocking loss of Prince. Many have started a memorial outside the gates of his Minnesota home, where just days before his death he held a party for his friends, who allegedly said he looked fine. TMZ claims that the flu story just doesn’t make sense, and that the singer’s death could sadly be drug related.
