Priscilla Presley says she doesn’t wish the loss of a child on anyone. It has been seven months since her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, died suddenly at 54. Priscilla says it has been difficult to speak publicly about her daughter’s passing in the past.
Priscilla Presley Recalls Knowing Something Was Wrong with Lisa Marie Presley
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Priscilla Presley reflects on her daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s death. Priscilla is typically very private and chooses to keep to herself. However, seven months after her daughter Lisa Marie’s death, she admits to knowing something was wrong.
Priscilla Presley recalls that she knew something felt wrong just two days before Lisa’s death. She says they attended the Golden Globe Awards to celebrate Austin Butler’s Best Actor win for his portrayal of Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” movie. Following the show, she said they went to Chateau Marmont to continue the celebration.
“We had just gotten there. You go down all these stairs,” Priscilla says. “I tripped a little bit because I had these high heels on, and she started laughing so hard. I started laughing. We hadn’t even had a drink yet. She goes, ‘Oh my God, Mom, you can’t even have a drink.’… It was fun, a fun memory. Then we sat down and ordered drinks, and she said, ‘Mom, my stomach hurts really bad.’ We immediately got up and left.”
Priscilla Presley continues saying it was two days later when she received the call from Lisa Marie Presley’s ex-husband, Danny Keough, informing her that Lisa was in the hospital. She says, “I got right in the car, but she was already gone,” Priscilla says. “I still can’t believe it. I don’t wish this on any mother.”
Lisa Marie Presley & Father Elvis Presley’s Cause of Death Similarities
Lisa Marie Presley was often compared to her famous father, Elvis Presley, from her striking good looks and musical talent to the eerie and similar lifestyle traits that some believe may have led to their untimely deaths.
On August 16, 1977, his then-girlfriend Ginger Alden found Elvis Presley unconscious in his Graceland home. His cause of death was listed as hypertensive heart disease, with coronary artery disease as a contributing factor.
Per People, Lisa Marie Presley also suffered from heart-related issues. On the day of her death, Lisa had to have a temporary pacemaker implanted due to life-threatening heart rhythms. The magazine also reports that, like her father, various drugs were found in her system. However, neither is thought to have contributed to their cause of death.
It was later discovered that Lisa Marie Presley died of a “a small bowel obstruction” caused by scar tissue that developed after bariatric surgery years ago. However, according to The Sun, the Presley family history may have also played a role in Lisa Marie and Elvis’ early demise.
Elvis’ mom, Glady’s Presley, died on August 14, 1958 at 46. That is almost exactly 19 years before her son. Glady’s three brothers also passed away between the ages of 46 and 58 from either heart or liver-related health problems.
Regardless of the cause of death, both Lisa Marie Presley and her father, Elvis Presley’s fans, agree that they each left the world way too soon, leaving behind millions who continue to love and miss them.
