After the 4th of July weekend hack on Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends, a lot of attention has been drawn to the abundance of cheating going on in TitanFall 2.
It has been a rough time for TitanFall fans as the beloved original game has been difficult to play for months due to hackers. But the Apex Legends hack has seemingly finally got to Respawn as they announced they have “one or two people” looking at the TitanFall issues.
According to IGN, “It’s a game of whack-a-mole with us. The thing is, I don’t want to say we’re working on it because, yeah, we’re working on it. You can only hear that so many times before it becomes useless. But we are working on it, it’s just that we can’t say what we’re doing and stuff like that. Now it’s a different type of game with these people who DDoS, and blacklist. We can’t telegraph our moves. We can’t say what we’re doing. All I can say is we’re working on it,” Respawn’s community coordinator Jason Garza stated during a livestream.
Respawn working on TitanFall issues
A group of heavy TitanFall players has created a group called TF Remnant Fleet. They are responsible for the website Save TitanFall, a website designed to spread awareness of the hacking incidents in the game.
After the Apex hacking, they caught a lot of backlash as people thought they were behind the attack because the hacker licked their website. TF Remnant Flee has since stated that they had nothing to do with the Apex hack and stand by the Apex Legends community.
Obviously, fans want something done in order to at least try to save TitanFall. Even if it is just an update on their anti-cheat software it could go a long way for fixing not only the game but Respawn’s relationship with the TitanFall community which at the moment is not very good.
Understandably, a TitanFall fix may take a while as the game is seven years old and only has a small number of people working on it due to the rest of the staff working on Apex Legends as they prepare for a new season coming sometime next month. But for now, fans can only speculate on what Respawn Entertainment has in store for their old game but hopefully, they can do something to make both sides a little more at ease.
