Real Housewives of New Jersey OG Teresa Giudice has found herself in hot water financially. The Bravo star failed to listen to her friends when she married her second husband, Luis Ruelas. When Teresa met Luis, she was so smitten with him that she let her heart instead of her head do the talking.
Teresa Giudice placed all her trust in Luis and tucked it away in her love bubble. Her friends and family tried to warn Teresa to sign a prenup with Luis before they married. However, Tre made it clear to everyone that she had complete faith and trust in him.
That may have been the biggest financial mistake Teresa Giudice has made since her marriage to Joe Giudice. Recent reports reveal that Luis and Teresa are deep in debt. Recent reports reveal that Luis and Teresa have been hit with over $3 million in tax liens.
Now, according to Reality Blurb reports, Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas could face the serious issue of becoming a target for federal agents. In October 2022, during an episode of What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, host Andy questioned Teresa as to whether she had a prenup in place with Luis Ruelas before their upcoming wedding.
Teresa revealed she had no plans to have a prenup, despite Andy’s stern warnings. Now, it looks as if she could face serious financial consequences and possibly even more jail time.
“If they divorce with no prenup, it would be a mess,” Beverly Hills attorney Adam Michael Sacks previously told The Sun. “Husband and wife are 50/50 partners. If you have a debt, that could be half yours and half his.”
Teresa Giudice Blinded By Love
The majority of the tax debt belongs to Luis Ruelas. However, some also belong to Teresa Giudice on income earned from her various business ventures, including her podcast series Turning The Tables, social media, and her lipstick line.
Fans can’t believe that Teresa has allowed herself to get into financial hot water again. Especially after spending 15 months in prison for mortgage fraud in 2015.
“The real connection is if you’re dealing with the IRS. She already committed fraud. They can say, ‘You already have a record of fraud,’” said the lawyer. “This may really stick with not just owing the money, but having a bigger problem.”
“You’re not supposed to evade taxes. The dumb person can get away with it, but the deliberate person who is deliberately not paying, that’s a criminal offense,” he added. “These are financial crimes; they can become a criminal case, but normally you would need to show bad actions, such as fraud.”
“How can she be so dumb? She claimed ignorance about her prior offenses and did 15 months in prison. Don’t think she will get off that easy again,” shares one fan. “We’re going to get another Teresa checks in special,” adds another.
“Teresa/Luis KNOW they have to pay taxes and CHOSE not to. More important to them to blow the $$$ trying to look rich. Time’s up.”
So far, Luis Ruelas and Teresa Giudice aren’t speaking out about their financial troubles. However, it looks as if Teresa is doomed to repeat history. So if they don’t come up with more than $3 million in cash, things will get very interesting very soon with a whole lotta I told you so’s coming her way.
