Ricki Lake’s ex-husband Christian Evans dead at age 45

Ricki Lake’s ex-husband, Christian Evans, has died. Evans, who was married to the former talk show host for two years, suffered from bipolar disorder, which is said to have lead to his death. Lake announced the tragic news via social media on Tuesday.

Ricki Lake called Christian Evans her “soulmate” as she announced his death to her followers. The former “Dancing With The Stars” contestant penned a heartfelt statement about the death of her ex-husband, and the toll that mental illness can take on lives.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share that my beloved soulmate, Christian Evans has passed. The world didn’t understand this man, but I did. He succumbed to his life long struggle with bipolar disorder. For anyone who has ever lost a family member or friend to mental illness, my heart goes out to you. I am a greater person for having known him and spent the past 6 and a half years of my life with him. He was a man of love and what mends my broken heart today is knowing that he is finally at peace and his spirit is free. Rest in peace, my love.”

According to Us Weekly, Ricki Lake and Christian Evans got engaged in August 2011, and surprised many by eloping in April of the next year. The pair called it quits in October of 2014, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their divorce. Lake was previously married to Rob Sussman, whom she shares two sons, Milo, 19, and Owen, 15, with.

No other details on Christian Evans’ death have been revealed at this time, and Ricki’s fans are now reaching out to her via social media to offer good thoughts and kind words during this difficult time in her life.
