ABC has canceled “Roseanne” after Roseanne Barr’s racially charged tweet about Valerie Jarrett Monday morning. Things are going downhill pretty rapidly and viewers are not one bit happy with the situation at hand.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement to TheWrap on Tuesday.

“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr said earlier on Tuesday in response to a Twitter thread about Jarrett, a former adviser to Barack Obama. Despite Roseanne Barr’s apology and promise to leave Twitter, there is no stopping the backlash. Sadly, Barr’s offensive tweet is costing everyone involved major dollars.

Obviously, the series cannot be picked up by ANY other network without suffering a direct git also. Evan if someone was gutsy enough to attempt to save the series minus Roseanne Barr, the series is in fact called “Roseanne” and she holds the rights. Cast members of the show are also very upset by not only Roseanne Barr’s remarks, but her actions that have cost them their jobs. So what are the options to attempt to save the series per say?

Could a spin-off series be a possibility? Say one called The Conners? The series could continue focussing on the lives of all the Conner family, and their friends.

How could it be done? Let’s just say for instance the character of Roseanne Conner could be written out of the show. After all in the season and now series finale Roseanne did express concerns of not making through the knee surgery she was scheduled to have.

The spin-off series could start with Roseanne’s funeral and how Dan Conner, Darlene, Becky, DJ, Jackie, and grandma are handling the loss of the family matriarch. After all, Roseanne Barr did kill off Dan Conner in the 10th season of Roseanne. This is one possibility. Another could add a spin -off with Darlene and her kids with room for her Dad, and family.

Sara Gilbert, who stars as Darlene Conner is also the Executive producer and co-star Sara Gilbert and she is also very upset about the situation. Gilbert called Barr’s comments “abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show.”
She also added that news of the cancellation is “incredibly sad and difficult.”

“This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love– one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member,” she said Inquisitr reports. That being said we refuse to give up home on a plot to attempt to save a series that was a huge money-maker and an instant hit with fans across the globe.

Where there is a will there is always a possible way. R.I.P. “Roseanne” hello “The Conners?”
