The Roseanne revival is one of the most anticipated shows set to debut in 2018. However, fans are curious about how the show will handle the wackiness of the final season and the shocking revelations from the show’s series finale. Now, John Goodman is weighing in on his character Dan Conner’s fate, and what’s in store for the revival.
According to ABC News, John Goodman says that Dan Conner is alive and well in the Roseanne revival, and that the show will more than likely completely ignore the events of the series finale. Of course, knowing Roseanne, there will likely be some sort of joke about Dan’s fictional death in the original series. “I don’t know, I think they’re just going to ignore it. There might be a funny reference to it,” the actor revealed.
Meanwhile, fans want to know what Roseanne and the Conner family have been up to in the past 20 years. Goodman reveals that he believes Dan and Roseanne are still working and that they are going to be grandparents as well.
“Sure, we both are probably still working — didn’t have the luxury of retiring, probably didn’t have a pension, living paycheck to paycheck. I guess we kept the house. A lot of people are going through the same thing. There are a lot of people who can’t retire when they’re in their 60s. It’s going to be all new turf. We were in our 40s when we left off. I myself have applied for Medicare. We’re going to have grandkids. It’s just like a new life. I don’t know what they’re going to do, but I’m excited to try it this way.”
As previously reported by Hollywood News Daily, the show will not only have to deal with Dan’s death in the original series finale, but the Roseanne revival will also have to explain the absence of the character of Mark Healy. Actor Glenn Quinn, who played the role of Becky’s husband on the show, tragically died from a drug overdose in 2002.
