With high anticipation in the Star Wars community for the Andor television series coming to Disney plus Rouge One: A Star Wars Story becomes even more important to the Star Wars lore as Cassian Andor is a main character in that movie.
With the unfortunate news of Andor being Delayed till September Lucasfilm has decided to rerelease Rouge One in 150 IMAX Movie Theaters in the U.S and Canada for one week from August 26th. This film was first shown on the big screen in 2016 and was the first Disney-made Star Wars film and was widely expected by the Star Wars community.
Rouge One introduced us to Jin Erso the daughter of Galen Erso who was the architect who designed the super laser for the first Death Star. The film also introduces a very interesting character named Cassian Andor.
Andor will focus on Cassian Andor from Rouge One
Cassian is one of if not the best spies the Rebellion has. Cassian has been a warrior since he was a child and has always been ruthless for the cause he believes in. Rouge One is a very important story for the Star Wars franchise as it really shows how dangerous it was for the Rebels to steal the plans for the first Death Star.
Rouge One is a must-watch if you are planning to watch Andor in September. The film really goes into what it takes to be a spy for the Rebellion and it also shows how that life affects Cassian all the way up to his unfortunate death on Scarif at the hands of the Death Star. One line really stands out above all the rest when Cassian Andor says “Everything I did, I did for the Rebellion” and you can see that line again in the official tweet announcing that Rouge One Is returning to theaters.
Andor takes place five years before Rouge One
The Andor series and Rouge One are very closely linked as Andor will take place five years before the events of Rouge One and will be showing what Cassian Andor was doing before he met Jin Erso. If you want to have a deeper understanding of Cassian before Andor comes out you need to watch Rouge One.
There is just an unexplainable feeling watching a good movie in the theater and it will definitely be worth the money to see Rouge One in IMAX. The hype will only get bigger as we draw closer and closer to the premiere of Andor streaming of Disney Plus.
