Scott Baio was not happy after his former Happy Days co-star, Ron Howard, announced that he was putting together a reunion of the classic show in order to raise money for Democrats in Wisconsin, where the show was set. He made his thoughts about the reunion clear after Full House actor, John Stamos, offered to play Baio’s former role of Chachi.
Scott Baio slams ‘Happy Days’ Reunion, John Stamos on Twitter
Howard took to Twitter on Monday to announce the Happy Days reunion, revealing that it would be a virtual event that would benefit the Democratic party in Wisconsin. After Stamos’ tweet, Baio responded with his own social media message, posting some crying-laughing emoji. “This is what Hollywood has come to,” he added, using the hashtag #LiberalsAreDesperate.
The actor also mentioned the drama that plagued the Fuller House cast recently, telling Stamos that he should probably be busy taking care of Aunt Becky, seemingly referencing actress Lori Loughlin’s college admissions scandal and jail sentence.
Baio is not listed as a participating cast member. However, Henry Winkler, who played the iconic role of Fonzi, Anson Williams who portrayed Potsie, Marion Ross, who played Marion Cunningham, and Don Most who portrayed Ralph Mouth will all be in attendance, as well as Howard, who played the character of Richie Cunningham. Sadly, cast members such as Tom Bosely who played Richie’s dad, Howard, and actress Erin Moran who portrayed his kid sister Joanie, have both passed away
The actor is an outspoken republican
Even if Baio was on board for a Happy Days reunion, it is unlikely that he would do so to benefit any political party other than the Republicans. Pop Culture reports that the actor has been very outspoken about his political affiliation, showing major support for Sen. Mitt Romney back in 2012, and campaigning for Donald Trump in 2016. He’s also blasted former President Barack Obama online.
In addition to his outspoken political views, Baio has recently dealt with sexual abuse allegations, which has been brought against him by his former Charles in Charge star, Nicole Eggert, which has driven him further apart from his former co-stars.
Fans react to the online drama
“I love Chachi. There’s only one who could play him,” one social media user tweeted.
“I like them both, but the clap back was pretty funny,” another wrote.
“Oh sit on it, Chachi,” a third person stated.
Fans can watch the Happy Days reunion when it streams live on Sunday, October 25 at 7 p.m.
