Scream 6 is right around the corner. The sixth installment of the fan-favorite horror movie franchise released its first trailer on Wednesday. In the trailer, the cast is seen riding the subway in New York City. In the creepy clips, it appears to be Halloween in NYC, as many wear spooky costumes. While on the subway, the characters notice multiple Ghostface masks and are understandably uneasy about it.
As the characters survey their surroundings, the Ghostface masks seem to multiply. As the lights fade in and out, the tension rises. After the lights flicker for the last time, a person in a Ghostface mask pops up in front of one of the characters and seemingly stabs her. During the attack, the killer covers his victim’s mouth as nobody seems to notice the severity of the situation.
Scream 6 trailer and release date finally revealed
“In a city of millions no one hears you scream,” the tagline for the film reads. After the teaser trailer concludes, the official release date for the movie is revealed. The film will hit theaters on March 10, 2023 for those fans who may want to mark their calendars.
Original Scream cast member Courteney Cox will return as her character Gail Weathers. Gail has been seen in every one of the films so far. Sadly, the franchise’s leading lady, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) won’t be featured in the movie. The actress refused to return to the franchise after she says she was being unfairly compensated for her work.
Scream 6 won’t feature Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott
“I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years,” Campbell previously said of her decision not to return. “And as a woman in this business, I think it’s really important for us to be valued and to fight to be valued.”
Meanwhile, Scream 5 stars Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding will return. Actress Hayden Panettiere will also reprise her Scream 4 role as Kirby Reed. In addition, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Segarra, and Tony Revolori also join the cast.
“I love that scream 6 is going all out but I wonder where the 7th will take place??” one fan tweeted. “Samara and Jenna on Scream 6. I’m seated. My fave final girls,” another wrote “Scream 6 might end up being one of the best ones,” another commented. “After the atrocity that was Halloween Ends Scream 6 better be good or I’ll cry a million tears,” another stated.
Fans can’t wait to see what will happen, who will die, and who will be revealed as the killer in Scream 6. Sadly, we’ll have to wait until March to find out.
