Sean Connery Dead: ‘James Bond’ Actor Dies At Age 90

Actor Sean Connery has died. The actor, known for his role as James Bond, sadly passed away at the age of 90. The Scottish actor was considered one of the best to ever grace the screen with his dramatic interpretations in films such as The Wind and the Lion, The Man Who Would Be King, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

According to Variety, Connery celebrated his 90th birthday back in August following a long career in Hollywood. He was often considered one of film’s best leading men, and was even named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Century back in 1999.

His credits are many, including 1988’s The Untouchables, which won him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, The Hunt for Red October, First Knight, Rising Sun, and more. He was just a gem on the screen that his uncredited cameo as King Richard in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves has become one of the film’s biggest moments.

In 2000 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, calling it “one of the proudest days of my life.” Other proud days came when he received Kennedy Center Honors in 1999 and the American Film Institute’s lifetime achievement award in 2006.

Connery was previously married to actress Diane Cilento from 1962 to 1973. The couple shared one child together and divorced in 73 and Cilento died in 2011. He later married his second wife, painter Micheline Roquebrune in 1975. She survives him. He also has a son, actor Jason Connery, and a grandson from Jason’s marriage to actress Mia Sara.

The news of Connery’s death hit the internet hard, with fans speaking out about his iconic work and life online.

“And 2020 continues,” one saddened fan tweeted.

“Sad to see this. Sean Connery was my favorite Bond. I remember watching all of them with my dad. I think Goldfinger, From Russia with Love and Dr. No were the best. Bond marathon tonight!” another wrote.

“Such sad news. RIP Sir Sean Connery. The best James Bond ever. My condolences to his family and friends. Thanks for the memories,” a third person stated.

“R.I.P. Sir Sean Connery. Bond. Legend. Thank you for so many amazing memories from a great career,” another person commented.
