Selena Gomez has checked out of the psychiatric rehabilitation center where she was undergoing ‘dialectical behavior therapy’ for her mental health and is now ‘laying low’ according to the Daily Mail.
The 26-year-old singer was admitted into a psychiatric facility in late September, after experiencing an emotional breakdown. Several weeks prior to Selena Gomez’s leading up to her rehab stint, Selena was reportedly hospitalized on multiple occasions for complications brought on by her 2017 kidney transplant.
As previously reported, Gomez disappeared off of her fan’s radar in 2017 only to resurface revealing that she had undergone a secret kidney transplant. Selena revealed the transplant details to fans last fall via social media stating she had received a donor kidney from her close friend, actress Francia Raisa and remains on a strict health watch.
Sources close to Selena have allegedly stated that during the recent kidney transplant complications her white blood cell count was said to be dangerously low terrifying Gomez. The same sources claim that the medical scare caused Selena to “freak out,” so much so she allegedly tried to rip IVs out of her arm. Days later it was revealed that Selena had been discharged from the hospital to enter an East Coast rehab center to receive dialectical behavior therapy.
It had also been rumored that Selena’s family and friends were growing concerned about the singer’s alcohol use. They felt that after hearing the news of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber’s whirlwind romance/engagement and now marriage was causing the singer to deal with the pain through alcohol.
“Selena is out of her treatment program in NYC and is doing much better,” a source told E! News on Wednesday. “[She is] refreshed and is in a better head space.” The Selena Gomez informant also revealed that Selena Gomez is currently back home and intends to keep a low profile for the next several weeks before returning back to work.
Selena Gomez will continue her treatment working closely with medical professionals who will continue to help Gomez manage her ongoing medical battle.
