‘Sex And The City’ Revival Spoilers: Does Samantha Die?

Sarah Jessica Parker at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Sex and the City is officially returning! Carrie and the gang will be back for more love and life lessons in The Big Apple for a brand new revival on HBO Max. However, not everyone will be apart of the new show, which is being titled And Just Like That.

According to Variety, the SATC revival will bring back three of the main characters. Sarah Jessica Parker will obviously be back as lead character Carrie Bradshaw. She’ll be joined by Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte York, as well as Cynthia Nixon, who portrays Miranda Hobbs. Sadly, actress Kim Cattrall won’t be back to reprise her role as Samantha Jones.

Will the ‘Sex and the City’ revival kill off Samantha Jones?

Samantha is a huge part of the show. The original series included a ton of meaningful and even emotional storylines for the character, Samantha’s storylines have included her giving her heart away and getting in broken. She also dealt with a breast cancer diagnosis, and finding the love of her life in Smith Jerrod.

The new show will give fans a look into what Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte are up to now that they’re in their 50’s and all married, but how will they explain Samantha’s absence? TVLine reports that the show could kill off the beloved character.

Samantha’s funeral could be the starting point of the new show, and it would also fit the title of the series, And Just Like That. Samantha’s breast cancer diagnosis could be revealed as the reason for her death, and bring a new lease on life to her three best friends.

Sadly, bringing the show back without Samantha just doesn’t make sense. That is, unless the character is revealed to have died.

As for the reason why Samantha won’t be returning, it seems that Kim Cattrall didn’t want to reprise the character. In addition to speaking out about being over playing the sexually charged Samantha, the actress has also had very public beef with her co-star, Parker.

The outlet also suggests that perhaps Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte may all be divorced from their husbands, Big, Steve, and Harry in the revival. This would give the show a renewed sense of fun and allow viewers to see the women dating in their 50s, as well as raising their children as single mothers.

Sarah Jessica Parker speaks out about Kim Cattrall’s absence

Fans expressed their unhappiness when they found out that Cattrall wouldn’t be featured in the Sex and the City revival. They began to speak out. One fan claimed on Parker’s Instagram account that it was because the two women dislike one another.

“No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do,” Sarah replied.
