Siegfried Fischbacher, known for his Vegas magic act as part of the duo Siegfried and Roy, has sadly died at the age of 81. The magician was best remembered for his act with white tigers and lions, died on Wednesday following a battle with cancer.

Siegfried Fischbacher dead from pancreatic cancer

According to the NY Post, following his pancreatic cancer diagnosis, Siegfried underwent a 12-hour surgery. During the operation, doctors discovered that the cancer had spread to other parts of his body. Later, Siegfried chose to leave the hospital and live out the remainder of his days in his Las Vegas home, where he was cared for by nurses until his death.

Sadly, Siegfried’s death comes less than a year after his lontime partner, Roy Horn, died. Horn passed away back in May at the age of 75. The cause of his death was the Covid-19 virus.

Following Roy’s death, Siegfriend released a heartwarming statement about his friend and entertaining partner.

“Today, the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend. From the moment we met, I knew Roy and I, together, would change the world. There could be no Siegfried without Roy, and no Roy without Siegfried,” Fischbacher told TMZ.

“Roy was a fighter his whole life, including during these final days. I give my heartfelt appreciation to the team of doctors, nurses and staff at Mountain View Hospital who worked heroically against this insidious virus that ultimately took Roy’s life.”

Back in 2019, Siegfried opened up about the end of his career, claiming he didn’t miss hitting the Las Vegas stage to perform his magic act with Roy.

“I really don’t miss it. We have been on stage in Vegas just by themselves for 40 years on stage, you know? And we had the most successful show in the history of Las Vegas anyway.”

Fans react to the magician’s death

Of course, fans are sad to hear of Siegfried’s passing. He and Roy created some very magical moments for fans who packed arenas to watch their act and marvel at their beautiful animals.

Following the announcement of his death, fans flooded social media to pay their respects.
