Slender Man is the name of an internet meme which was designed to creep people out. The meme originated on the website Something Awful, but today is making headlines in an attempted murder case.
Who is Slender Man?
In 2009 “Slender Man” was created by the site as a way to insert the scary image into photos to harmlessly creep people out. However, it’s popularity has grown and it’s the subject of many posts, photos, and YouTube videos to date.
This week, two 12-year-old girls from Wisconsin were arrested for stabbing their friend 19 times after trying to become “proxies” of Slender Man.

Thankfully, the victim is alive and in stable condition after being found by a cyclist. The two girls were arrested after having planned the attack for a year and are currently facing over 60 years in prison for the attempted murder.
