The solar eclipse 2017 is underway, and people all over the world are very interested in seeing exactly when and how things will look when the sun is blocked completely by the moon. This total eclipse is a rare event, and it seems everyone will be talking about it throughout the week. Now, you can watch a live stream of the eclipse live online. (Look down below!)

The solar eclipse of 2017 will take place on Monday, August 21, and there a few things that everyone needs to know before heading outside to experience the event. First things first, the eclipse will only last for a few brief moments, and you’ll want to be sure you’re there to experience it!

Meanwhile, be sure to wear your official eclipse glasses. The rays can be damaging to the eyes, and you will not want to look up at the sun while the eclipse is happening. So, put your glasses on, or wait until the sun is completely eclipsed before looking up. You can also watch the live stream below to see it all go down.

However, once totality has been reached you can take off the eclipse glasses! It will be safe to view the eclipse at this time through a telescope or binoculars. However, be sure to put those glasses back on and quit looking before eclipse 2017 is over. Once you can see the sun again, it won’t be safe to look with your naked eye.

There will also be many changes during eclipse 2017. It will get very dark outside, the temperature will quickly decrease, nocturnal animals may come out in confusion, and the birds will likely fall silent, and don’t forget to look around at the sky, not just the sun. You’ll be able to see the stars, and it should be a very fun event for the whole family to enjoy, but remember to be safe and guard your eyes!
