Sons Of Anarchy: This Prequel Show Never Happened

Sons Of Anarchy
Sons Of Anarchy

Sons Of Anarchy, Fx’s hit drama series following a gun-running motorcycle club in California. SOA ended back in 2014 after seven seasons, but that led to a spinoff series called Mayans M.C. Taking place a few years after Sons, Mayans takes place in the same world of dangerous gangsters. This was not the only spinoff that was planned though.

SOA Spinoffs

Sons Of Anarchy tells the story of Jax Teller and his rise and fall inside of his M.C. It was later revealed that the creator, Kurt Sutter, had another idea for a Sons Of Anarchy prequel. This show would have followed the founding members of SOA. Titled “The First 9”, this series would have shown the history of SAMCRO. Following John Teller and Piney Winston from their time in Vietnam to the arrival of Clay Morrow

Sadly, The First 9 may never see the light of day due to the issues between Sutter and Disney. In 2019 FX fired Sutter due to complaints about his behavior according to ScreenRant.com. This left the showrunner chair to co-creator Elgin James. This splintered the relationship between Suuter and Disney and things remain tense.

There are some conversations about SOA’s past in the seven seasons, but it is not enough to piece together the full backstory. Although the future of The First 9 is not too bright right now, it still might happen someday. Mayans M.C. just ended so who knows what FX could be cooking up next in this world of organized crime.

Fans want The First 9 series to happen, they also want a direct sequel to Sons Of Anarchy following Jax Teller’s children and their experience with SAMCRO. At the end of SOA Jax tells his ex-wife to take his kids far away as he does not want them to turn out like him and be a part of the club. We see that ex-wife in Mayans and she says her kids are just riding dirt bikes “for now”. That could be a little hint of what is to come in the future.

More SOA Content!

Sons Of Anarchy is loved by many. It would be a big mistake if FX does not keep up with content from that world. Whether that is The First 9 or a direct sequel, both would be a hit. For now, we will just have to wait for more information on these potential shows. It is only a matter of time until we get some more information.
