Finally, we were able to see Sony’s Spider-Man 2 thanks to a gameplay reveal. It had been a very long time since we last heard anything about this game. Spider-Man 2’s creative developer Bryan Intihar recently held an interview and stated that “We’ve been waiting to finally show Spider-Man 2. It’s been a while since we first announced the game, and it was really awesome to really show a full section of gameplay. It was just nice to spend more than a few minutes and show people all the different stuff.” according to EuroGamer.net.
A Darker Theme?
Intihar also talked about how while people are noticing the surroundings and the characters, nobody had really noticed the darker tone. The kind and quippy Peter Parker is now angry and snappy. Peter seemed to embrace his new symbiote suit’s slithering as well as the power it gave him. The suit’s power can be seen in the gameplay trailer as Peter is slamming his enemies into the ground with all his force. Peter is also heard saying “So do I” in regard to Myles saying the Lizard has big teeth.
“Whether it’s Kraven – which we confirmed at the beginning of the sequence – and obviously, we showed Venom when we first announced the game and now with the Symbiote and Pete being bonded with the Symbiote, there’s naturally going to be some darker elements to the story,” Intihar says. “That’s just being respectful to those characters, and what they bring to the overall experience.”
Venom Has Corrupted Peter
Everything seems to be leading up to an eventual showdown between Symbiote Suit Peter and Myles Morales. A battle between master and student for the fate of the master’s life. Spider-Man 2 will be unlike any other Spider-Man we have ever seen. Having two Spider-Men and being able to play as both of them is genius. Just from the new trailer, you can see how complicated and in-depth all the big fights will be.
Alongside the two main characters, there seems to be a wealth of villains to fight. Obviously, the headliner is Venom, but we also got to see The Lizard. Of course, there will also be some smaller-time villains and mini-boss battles. Many fans are extremely excited about this game and for good reason! The map seems bigger, the game looks better, and the villains are more deadly. Spider-Man 2 is set to release in the fall of 2023 and is sure to be a hit!
