Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 is set to release this October and we finally got a good look at Venom! In a recent interview Venom co-creator Todd McFarlane stated that he thinks that the design is in line with his own version of the villain. He described the design as looking “vicious” and praised Venom’s large stature and jagged teeth according to CBR.com. “They’re making him look kinda vicious,” McFarlane said. “He doesn’t look like he’s coming to play nice.”
McFarlane Loves The New Look!
McFarlane, who created the visual design for Venom in 1988 praised Insomniac for staying true to his design for the character. The new design gives the feel of an anti-hero, much like McFarlane originally instead. Todd recalls his path to designing Venom. He wanted the character to be big and bulky despite who the host was. Venom needs to be intimidating, much like when the Hulk transformers.
Todd is also okay with Eddie Brock not being Venom’s host like he is in every other piece of Spider-Man media. As for Venom’s identity in Spider-Man 2, there has been a few hints about who will be the monster’s host. Most signs point to Harry Osborn becoming Venom at some point in the game.
As we get closer to finally being able to play this game we are getting more and more pictures and videos of Spider-Man 2. McFarlane had some interesting words saying he would like to be able to play as Venom. It is not confirmed that Venom will be a playable character in the upcoming game, but we have gotten some pictures of Peter and Myles Alongside Venom. This has led some fans to believe that you will be able to play as Venom at least a little in Spider-Man 2. At the very least Peter Parker will wear the symbiote suit for a while in the game.
What Will This Game Have In Store For Us?
It has not been said how long Peter will have that suit or how he will get it off. We can imagine that he and Myles will have some kind of showdown. Myles’ venom powers may be the key to getting it off of Peter. What kind of crazy battles will we be getting into with Venom and The Lizard? We see them both in the trailers so there might be something there. It will be very interesting to see what will happen with all of these strong villains in Spider-Man 2. The game is set to release on October 10th, 2023 and fans can not wait!
