The game that is sweeping over the entire globe and bringing a new and refreshing spin on a played-out genre is 1047 Games’ Splitgate. The game is a fast-paced first-person shooter that resembles the Halo series in a lot of ways. The catch is that it also uses a portal system that is nearly identical to the Portal series. Adding these to aspects together has never been done before but 1047 Games has done it, and it has taken off to be one of the most popular games on Steam and on Twitch.
During a developer Q&A streamed on Twitch the development team for the popular first-person shooter was asked if the fans of the game could expect it to be ported across many different platforms besides the ones it is already available on.
The team’s response was this: “We haven’t started on it, but it’s absolutely part of the vision,” 1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx said. “Part of the vision is we want to be available on everything. You know, we want to be available on mobile, Switch… I mean, everything.” he said. Splitgate’s popular open beta is currently available for Linux and Windows on Steam as well as Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5,” per IGN.
Splitgate’s popularity is growing
Splitgate’s popularity is only natural. The recent controversial issues with Activision games that would be playing Call Of Duty: Warzone has made fans take the jump to other games such as Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends and of course 1047 Games’ Splitgate.
It will be very interesting to see how long the Spligate fever will last as the game eventually comes out of beta and becomes a fully released game. However, some fans have a feeling this game is here to stay for a very long time, especially if its developers can keep the community happy as well as adding more aspects to the game while keeping the original feeling of Splitgate.
This could be 1047 Games’ big chance to have itself solidified as the creators of one of the most popular games ever. It is very exciting to be able to watch Splitgate really take off and I’m sure there are many more amazing ideas to come. But for now, we can just all enjoy an amazing game and hope for the best as it goes towards a full release.
