Legendary R&B singer Ben E.King has died at the age of 76.The singer’s death was confirmed by his publicist Phil Brown who reveals that King died natural causes. Ben E. King is best known for his hit song “Stand By Me.” Throughout his career King has 21 songs chart the Billboard Top 100.

The Ben E. King had two other hits “Spanish Harlem” and “Supernatural Thing – Part I” that also made it to the top ten. King was born September 28, 1938 in Henderson, NC and moved with his family to Harlem in 1947. He spent some time with the Drifters in the late ’50s before going solo.

Ben E. King inspired Stephen King film

In 1986 “Stand By Me” was featured in the soundtrack of the coming of age Stephen King story , produced by Rob Reiner. The film also a classic pop culture hit starred Will Wheaton, Jerry O’Connell, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland and the late River Phoenix. He and Wheaton starred in a music video for the song and the movie, which was featured on the DVD.
