Star Wars Ahsoka might be Dave Filoni’s best chance to make this change to Return Of The Jedi. The rumors of Captain Rex making his live-action debut in this upcoming series would be the key to making this small but important change. Filoni has a deep connection to these characters through his time working on The Clone Wars with George Lucas. This little change would be a nice tie-in to the original trilogy.

Rex On Endor?

If Captain Rex does in fact show up in Ahsoka, Dave may want to finally make it canon that the old man you see during the Battle Of Endor is in fact, Captain Rex. It is already confirmed by Star Wars Rebels that Rex was involved in the battle.

“But I think the one thing I have really thought about is I really do think that Rex is that guy on Endor. I really do. Why else is there a bearded old guy on Endor… It makes no sense… I’m gonna make that happen. I’m getting like Palpatine, I’m getting power crazy.” As reported by ScreenRant.com

According to the official Star Wars canon, that specific soldier’s name is Nik Saint. He can be seen alongside Han Solo and his strike team on Endor. Tasked with shutting down the Death Star’s shield generator, this seems like the perfect mission for Rex to be a part of. Rex was one of the most decorated clones in the Grand Army Of The Republic. He also served directly under Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano during the war.

With Hayden Christensen said to be making an appearance in Ahsoka, it is also possible that we may get a Clone Wars flashback with Rex, Anakin, and Ahsoka. There are a few possibilities with this trio of characters that would make the fans happy. Disney has a chance to regain some ground here after a not so well received Mandalorian Season 3.

Filoni Wants It To Happen

Another possible way to confirm Rex in the original trilogy would be a throwaway line mentioning Nik Saint as an alias Rex has used. Aliases are common in Star Wars, especially during the Galactic Civil War era. Ahsoka used one so why wouldn’t Rex? Hopefully, we get some kind of official confirmation that this soldier was Captain Rex. Dave Filoni loves the character of Rex and he wants him to be in the original trilogy. We will find out soon though. Ahsoka begins streaming on August 23rd on Disney Plus.
