With less than a month to go before Star Wars: Andor’s three-episode premiere on Disney Plus where the stories of the early years of the heroic but dark rebel spy Cassian Andor will be told. Andor is set to take place in the year 5 BBY with BBY meaning before the battle of Yavin aka the first Death Star.
So Andor takes place five years before the events of Rogue One and A New Hope as both of those movies take place in 0 BBY. In the show, viewers will be able to see how the Empire got such a tight grip on the galaxy since the events of Revenge Of The Sith.
Star Wars: Andor Season 1 will consist of 12 episodes and will be released on Disney Plus on September 21st. It will run into November and then Season 2 will also be 12 episodes long and will lead straight into Rogue One. Diego Luna will return for the role of Cassian Andor, a Rebel fighter and spy who played a very important role in getting the Death Star plans to The Alliance To Restore The Republic.
Luna can’t wait for fans to see Andor
Luna has stated he is still haunted by Cassian Andor’s line about fighting since he was six years old and is also excited to go into the character’s dark history. “What does that mean exactly? He talks about a dark past, he talks about doing terrible stuff for the rebellion — what is he referring to?” Luna said. “There is a lot of material there for us to play with. I was really excited to be able to go on that journey [in the show].” as reported by C Net.com.
When we see Cassian Andor in his show he will be a petty thief until he meets some actual Rebels that may recruit him to their cause. Andor will not be the only important Rebel we see as Imperial senator Mon Mothma was seen in the show’s trailer. Mothma is known for leading the Galaxy-wide Rebellion as seen in A New Hope and Return Of The Jedi.
Build up to a larger Rebel cause?
At the time Andor takes place there is no larger Rebellion so it would be a safe guess that we will see some events that would lead up to a Galaxy-wide Rebel Alliance. With Andor right around the corner, you can really feel the excitement from the fans as we will get to see some uncharted territory for live-action Star Wars as well as plenty of unexplored characters and plot points. Watch Cassian Andor’s adventure streaming on Disney Plus on September 21st.
