Star Wars is a franchise filled to the brim with strange alien creatures, and they all have their own way of speaking. That would be especially true if talking about the famous Jedi Grand Master, Yoda. Yoda has always been a wise and mysterious character. However, the first thing anyone will notice once the small Jedi speaks is how exactly he constructs his sentences. The worlds are almost in reverse order. However, the creator of the character, George Lucas, has finally opened up regarding our little green friend.
According to People, at the beginning of the TCM Classic Film Festival, George Lucas dove into the character of Master Yoda. “He was basically the philosopher of the movie,” says George. Yoda has a lot of important things to say, so George wanted to make sure the audience listened. Star Wars was always aimed more at children, so that is how Lucas tried to get the kids to actually listen to what the Grand Master was saying.

“Yoda had a very distinctive way of talking, and it was done purposely because if you were speaking regular English, people don’t listen that much,” Lucas told TCM’s primetime host Ben Mankiewicz. “But if you have an accent, or it’s really hard to understand what he’s saying, they focus on what he’s saying.”
Master Yoda has become such an iconic character in the Star Wars franchise. No matter how you view the Grand Master of the Jedi Order, there is no defining his strength and wisdom. Not a lot of Jedi or Sith could go toe-to-toe with Darth Sidious and live to tell the tale. However, Sidius’ overwhelming power and Yoda’s smaller stature proved difficult in that duel for the fate of the galaxy.
The rest of his time at the festival, Lucas would allegedly tell stories about his earlier days developing Star Wars and how some producers were more than skeptical. However, the franchise that George built is still alive today. While it may not be under his direct control anymore, traces of the original creator can still be seen everywhere.
