Ahsoka Tano

Star Wars: New Inquisitor’s Identity Confirmed

Star Wars has finally confirmed the identity of the masked lightsaber wielder from the Ahsoka trailers. According to the official Star Wars website, the character’s name is Marrok. While they wear the armor of an Inquisitor, that life is long behind them. “The mysterious Marrok now works as a mercenary hired by Morgan Elsbeth to carry out dark deeds. Fully encased in battered battle armor, the warrior still carries a red double-bladed saber with a circular hilt,” as reported by Yahoo.com

Theory Debunked

With this announcement, a popular fan theory has been debunked. The idea was that this masked force wielder was none-other than Galen Marek. For those of you unfamiliar, Marek, who Sam Witwer voiced, is the secret apprentice of Darth Vader. Found in The Force Unleashed games. Galen is the main character as he deals with being used by the Sith. Ever since Disney bought Star Wars, Galen Marek is now considered a non-canon character.

Disney has been working on bringing old content back into the canon, such as dark troopers and Grand Admiral Thrawn. Galen Marek, also known as Star Killer, is a tricky character due to his strength in the games. If he was ever brought into the Star Wars canon he would have to be severely reworked. A power decrease would be necessary just to fit the already existing lore.

The motive for this new lightsaber for hire is not yet clear. It is most likely that Merrok is working for Grand Admiral Thrawn. Thrawn will be the mastermind behind everything in the upcoming Ahsoka series. Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren will be tasked with stopping the Grand Admiral as he tries to reestablish the Galactic Empire.

What Will Ahsoka Get Into?

Ahsoka Tano will also be looking for her long-lost friend and fellow Jedi Ezra Bridger. Ezra got shot into the unknown regions of space with Thrawn at the end of Star Wars Rebels. He has been lost ever since with no trace of his whereabouts. With the help of other characters from Star Wars Rebels, such as Hera Syndulla Ahsoka will pick up Ezra’s trail.

Ahsoka will air on Disney Plus on August 23rd. It will be a two-episode premiere and we will finally get to see Ahsoka Tano take center stage. The fan-favorite force user was introduced as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan in The Clone Wars series. She quickly became loved by the fans and a powerful force user. What kind of trouble will she get into next? Only time will tell as we are a few weeks away from Star Wars: Ahsoka!
