Star Wars: New Open World Game Set To Release In 2024

There have been plenty of Star Wars games over the years, but nothing like what Star Wars Outlaws could be. This completely open-world game developed by Ubisoft is set to release sometime in 2024. Star Wars games have mostly been focused on action adventure games and shooters in recent years. Looking at Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Jedi Survivor thanks to EA. Now, with EA’s exclusive rights to Star Wars games over, new companies get their shot with the Galaxy far far away.

What Do We Know So Far?

During the Xbox game showcase, we saw our first look at Star Wars Outlaws. According to Gizmodo.com, This game will take place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. Players will take control of Kay Vess. Kay is a thief trying to make it big in a galaxy full of crime. Kay, her BX droid, and her pet will scam and blast their way through the Outer Rim. As well as attempting “The Biggest Heist the Outer Rim has ever seen”.

In the trailer, we can see multiple crime syndicates. The most recognizable is the famous Pyke Syndicate. It seems that Kay may end up stealing from the Pykes, which is a very dangerous mission. Star Wars Outlaws could be a breath of fresh air for the franchise. Some of Star Wars’ best characters are “Outlaws”. Look at Han Solo, Boba Fett, Cad Bane, and so many more. These are fan-favorite characters and they are not necessarily “good guys”.

Who knows what kind of legendary characters we could see in this game? Bounty Hunters like Boba Fett, Bosk, and Fennec Shand. This is the first time we are seeing a main character separate themselves from the Rebellion and the Empire. With no interest in fighting in the Galactic Civil War, Kay Vess will make her way through uncharted territory. In Every recent Star Wars game the main character ends up in the fight somehow. Kay could be the first one to use the war to improve her own life in the Outer Rim.

A New Era Of Star Wars Games?

Some fans are slightly worried about Ubisoft’s track record with developing games, let alone such a big franchise. The doubts are not without reason, but if they can pull this off it may be the biggest Star Wars game of all time. Star Wars Outlaws has the opportunity to be the first of the new era of Star Wars games. They could set the bar here and now and prove other companies can make Star Wars games.
