Star Wars: Why Is Sabine Wren Using A Lightsaber In Ahsoka?

In the recent teaser trailers for the Star Wars: Ahsoka series we see many familiar characters. One of which is the Mandalorian Sabine Wren. Sabine made her debut in Star Wars Rebels and quickly became a fan favorite.  For casual Star Wars fans, these trailers may be confusing. In one we can see Sabine Wren igniting a green lightsaber. We also see her wearing Mandalorian armor. Why would someone who is not a Jedi have a lightsaber of their own?

Where Did She Get The Saber?

Sabine is actually using her lost Jedi friend Ezra Bridger’s lightsaber. Ezra was also introduced in Rebels as a force-sensitive child. According to Collider.com, Star Wars Rebels answers all of these questions. Rebels are about a small group of insurgents that are fighting the Evil Empire in the earlier days of The Galactic Civil War. So Sabine is definitely going to be fighting with a lightsaber in Ahsoka.

Sabine is actually trained to wield such a weapon. For a short time, she was the soul wielder of the legendary Dark Saber. She was trained to use the weapon in combat by Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus. Sabine ends up losing the DarkSaber to Gar Saxon, only for a short time though. She actually uses Ezra’s lightsaber to fight Saxon to reclaim the DarkSaber. A fight she wins to be clear.

Sabine Wren may be the best non-force user to ever use a lightsaber. To have been trained by a Jedi Knight on how to use the blade is very rare for anyone outside the Jedi Order. So it makes perfect sense for Sabine to feel comfortable using Ezra’s saber in the Ahsoka series. It will make for some interesting fights that is for sure.

More rebels Characters!

The Ahsoka show is said to be an extension of Star Wars Rebels. So we will see many characters making their live-action debuts. Such as Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger,  and Hera Syndulla. It will be very interesting to see what other characters will be making an appearance in this series.

Will we see flashbacks of the Clone Wars? Will we see Captain Rex, Anakin Skywalker, or maybe even Luke Skywalker? It is canon that Luke and Ahsoka know each other. As We saw in The Book Of Boba Fett. The possibilities are endless. Ahsoka is set to come out on August 23rd, 2023. We can not wait to see all the amazing stories that the show will bring us!
