Steven Colbert has officially been named the new host of “The Late Show” by CBS.

Steven Colbert replacing David Letterman on ‘The Late Show’

In a new press release by the network, Steven, who currently writes, and produces, “The Colbert Report” will be making the switch to CBS and going head to head with Jimmy Fallon.

David Letterman announced last week that he would be retiring from “The Late Show” soon, and CBS wasted no time pulling in Steven Colbert as his successor.

Will Colbert have the same success as Jimmy Fallon on ‘The Tonight Show?’

This comes just weeks after Jimmy Fallon took over “The Tonight Show” from Jay Leno, who retired after decades on the show.

Fallon has proven to be a huge hit on the show, and has pulled in the younger viewers that Jay Leno had seemed to lose.

It looks like “The Late Show” will get the same kind of makeover when David Letterman retires and Steven Colbert takes over, but will it be the same success? Only time will tell.
