Stevie Nicks Praises Daisy Jones & The Six: It ‘Became My Story’

Stevie Nicks interview.

Stevie Nicks is finally giving “Daisy Jones & The Six” her seal of approval. The Taylor Jenkins Reid TV adaptation has a very similar vibe to the real-life story of Nicks and her wildly popular band, Fleetwood Mac. Although the story is about the fictional Daisy and her journey into stardom with the already-established band The Six, Nicks saw the similarities to her own life as well. Months after the show was released on Prime Video, Nicks is speaking out about the parallels between her life and the series.

“Just finished watching [Daisy Jones & the Six] for the 2nd time,” Nicks wrote via her Instagram account, adding a photo of the show’s cast. “In the beginning, it wasn’t really my story, but [Riley Keough] seamlessly, soon became my story,” the Fleetwood Mac lead singer continued. “It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story,” she continued. “It was very emotional for me,” she added. I just wish Christine [McVie] could have seen it. She would have loved it.”

Stevie Nicks Gives Daisy Jones & The Six Her Stamp of Approval

McVie was the only other female member of Fleetwood Mac and one of Stevie Nicks’ best friends. The iconic keyboardist died in November 2022 and Nicks memorialized her with a sweet online tribute.

Following Nicks’ praise for “Daisy Jones & The Six,” cast members such as Riley Keough and Camila Marrone left their love on the past with emoji comments. Meanwhile, actress Reese Witherspoon, who produced the series also replied. “Oh my stars, Stevie!! This means the world to the whole @daisyjonesandthesix team! Thank YOU for cutting the path!” she commented.

Taylor Jenkins Reid reveals Fleetwood Mac’s influence on Her beloved Novel

Of course, other fans couldn’t help but gush over Nicks’ words. “Steve approving of Daisy Jones has made my year,” one person wrote. “Absolutely loved this book and show, just because of how much it reminded me of you and Fleetwood Mac. The music is just magical,” another stated.

For her part, author Taylor Jenkins Reid has admitted that “Daisy Jones & The Six” was inspired by Fleetwood Mac and Steve Nicks. “I kept coming back to that moment when [guitarist] Lindsey [Buckingham] watched Stevie sing ‘Landslide,’” Jenkins Reid wrote in an essay Hello Sunshine., referencing a Fleetwood Mac moment that has since gone viral. “How it looked so much like two people in love. And yet, we’ll never truly know what lived between them. I wanted to write a story about that, about how the lines between real life and performance can get blurred, about how singing about old wounds might keep them fresh,” the writer added.

Perhaps Stevie Nicks’ love for “Daisy Jones & The Six” will help push along a possibly Season 2. The producers and cast members have spoken out about wanting to do more. It seems like there’s a possibility that it could happen.
