Suns Sweep The Nuggets And Advance To The Western Conference Finals

The Phoenix Suns have officially made it to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since the 2009-2010 season! Booker and Chris Paul’s Suns continue to impress after they sweep the Nuggets just after knocking off the defending NBA champions the L.A Lakers.

The Suns who wish they could ride this momentum and continue playing will have to wait and see the outcome of the other Western Conference semifinals as the Utah Jazz lead the L.A. Clippers 2-1.

So Phoenix will have some time off which could be a good thing and let CP3 have some time to try to fully heal his shoulder but it could also be a bad thing as it could kill the momentum with the Suns playing so well together as of late.

The player that pushed the Suns above and beyond this series was definitely Chris Paul. Paul with an injured shoulder did not let it slow him down one bit. He also posted some video game numbers this series becoming the third player to have a 10 plus assist game with zero turnovers which has only been done by Magic Johnson and Chris Paul again in a past season.

He also scored a season-high 37 points to take the Game 4 win and advance to a bigger stage in the Western Conference Finals. Of course, we can not forget the young star Devin Booker as he was an “unstoppable scorer, as he had 21 points by halftime thanks to his ability to get to the line and hit from the outside.” said by Bleacher Report.

Cam Johnson and Jae Crowder were also factors as they hit multiple timely three-point shots down the stretch. Crowder also put up solid defensive numbers to do his part in the Sun’s victory. Phoenix was seemingly going to finish Denver off sooner or later but it got a lot more clear that it would be sooner rather than later when Nuggets big man and league MVP Nikola Jokić was ejected.

Booker went chest to chest with the newly crowned most valuable player after he committed a hard foul on Payne. Things got a little heated as the frustration of watching the opportunity of playing in the Western Conference Finals got to Nikola Jokić and he let his emotions get the best of him leading to a flagrant two foul which is cause for immediate ejection.

Now all the Suns can do is sit and wait for the victor of the Clippers-Jazz series who play Monday night June 14th at 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. We will also have to sit and wait to see who will be competing for a ticket to the 2021 NBA Finals.
