‘Super Troopers 2’ Starts Production: Are You Ready For Another Movie Meow?

Super Troopers 2” is not only officially happening, it’s actually started filming! That’s right, Broken Lizard is back with a brand new movie, and we can not wait to see it. The news was first posted on the comedy group’s Facebook page.

‘Super Troopers 2’ Begins Filming in Boston

According to the post, “Super Troopers 2” is the sequel to the hilarious 2001 cult favorite. Back in March, Broken Lizard launched a campaign to raise $2 million for the film’s budget. They reached their goal within 30 days, and surpassed it by earning $4.4 million.

The comedy group promised that the more money they raised the bigger the stunts would be in the sequel. The whole group, Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske are back again as the writers and stars of the movie. Chandrasekhar is also back as director.

Broken Lizard is Back in Action

“Super Troopers 2” is currently filming in Boston. The original film about five hilarious Vermont state troopers who loved to prank the people they pulled over first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The rights were acquired by Fox Searchlight for $2.5 million and ended up grossing $18.5 million at the box office in 2002.

Over the years, “Super Troopers” has become a comedy favorite among fans, who often quote one of the most memorable scenes by working the word “meow” into conversations. (See the clip below!) Meanwhile, fans are totally stoked for the the sequel to be released, and can’t wait to find out what the troopers are up to this time around.
