The cast of Teen Mom OG can breathe a little easier for the time being after being renewed for at least one more season, according to The Ashley.
It has been a rough season for the Teen Mom OG cast, whose ratings have continued to drop dramatically over the past couple of years. However, MTV has made the official decision to proceed with another season. Reports reveal that the OG cast has begun officially filming for Season 9B.
Teen Mom OG cast relieved
The new season is predicted to air sometime this fall. This is good news for Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood, Catelynn Lowell, Mackenzie McKee, and Cheyenne Floyd.
The renewal news comes after some major drama recently went down between Maci Bookout, Ryan, and Mackenzie Edwards, along with Ryan’s parents.
As previously reported by Hollywood News Daily, Maci has been having issues with Ryan concerning the former couple’s son Bentley. Maci and Ryan have had their share of problems over the years. Maci finally reached her breaking point after their son Bentley asked to go to counseling with Ryan.
Teen Mom OG Maci Bookout responsible for Edwards family firing
During a family discussion, Bentley revealed to Maci and stepfather Taylor that he did not want to see Ryan anymore unless they attended therapy sessions together.
Ryan Edwards has his own opinions about Bentley’s therapy needs and made them quite clear in the Season 9 trailer. “Bentley wanted us to do counseling – is it all your mom’s bulls***?”
The situation sent Maci off in a fit of rage that did not end well during the season reunion. The huge blowout between Maci, her husband Taylor, and Ryan’s parents Larry and Jen were nasty, http://gty.im/156486772 to say the least.
Teen Mom OG drama in Season 9B enough to save the show
Tempers flared after Larry claims that Maci has “limited some” of her 12-year-old son Bentley’s visits with his father’s side of his family. Larry also seemingly accused Maci of manipulating Bentley when it comes to Ryan.
Larry tossed about more angry words. After the reunion taping, MTV decided it was best to let the entire Edwards family go for the time being.
Despite all the drama, will it be enough to keep the Teen Mom OG reality series alive? Time will tell. However, some fans believe it may be wise for the cast to explore career options outside of reality television.
