With the Bad Batch Season 2 airing its finale yesterday we all said goodbye to a very special clone. In the episode titled Plan 99, the clone called Tech sacrifices himself in order to save the rest of his squad from being captured by the newly formed Empire.
With the loss of the smartest clone in the world, who could possibly fill his shoes? One name being thrown around is the legendary Captain Rex of the 501st clone battalion. Rex has now operated in both seasons of The Bad Batch and is arguably the most famous clone. Rex is already confirmed to have fought in The Battle of Endor so having him join The Bad batch would tie his story up nicely. As said by IGN.com.
Who Can Fill Tech’s Shoes?
Rex is seen in Star Wars Rebels, but by that time he is retired and living with Commander Wolffe and Gregor. Most fans would love to see what the great clone captain was doing up until his appearance in Rebels.
The Second option would be Commander Cody. Cody served with General Obi-Wan Kenobie during the war. He was in command of the 212th clone attack battalion. As of The Bad Batch Season 2, it is confirmed that Cody defected from the Empire after his mission with Crosshair.
The third and more of a dark horse candidate would be Emerie Karr. Karr was seen throughout The Bad batch Season two. She was also revealed in dramatic fashion to be another female clone. As of right now, she seems to be working for Docter Hemlock on Mount Tantiss. Although, she could have a change of heart and save Omega and Crosshair and be welcomed into Clone Force 99.
A Serious Blow To The Group
Without Tech The Bad Batch has no hacker. Nobody to save their skins with some technical wizardry. This will be a big problem for the group as Tech got them out of a lot of serious situations. Tech was a huge part of Clone Force 99 and his presence will definitely be missed.
Any of these clones could join The Bad Batch, but they can never replace Tech. The group took a huge hit with this one as well as losing a family member. We now look to the future as we wait for the next season of The Bad Batch. Season 2 had its ups and downs, but its finale was definitely something that will stick with fans.
