It has been a few months since the start of the NBA’s free agency and Cleveland Cavaliers, guard Collin Sexton has yet to sign a deal. The 23-year-old guard has a three-year $40 million deal on the table but seemed to be unhappy with the amount of money he would be making per year.

It is said that Sexton would want a deal that would pay him $20 million per year Recent reports have been popping up that Sexton could be part of a sign and trade deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

With Sexton being unhappy with the Cavaliers’ latest offer and the Cavs not having a lot of wiggle room in the cap space department a sign and trade coil be the only option to satisfy every party.

Who is in the running for Collin Sexton?

“The Cavs have had conversations with Dallas about a sign-and-trade for Collin Sexton,” Fedor said. But if you’re talking about a sign-and-trade, the Cavs need something back that would be valuable to them. And neither the Jazz nor the Mavericks have the pieces that the Cavs would want back in a sign-and-trade for Collin.” according to CBS Sports.com.

The Jazz were in talks with the Cavaliers about Collin Sexton but it seems that neither of these teams has anything the Cavs consider to be worth the guard. Sexton was a big part of the Cavaliers’ fast rebuild as he was their first lottery pick after LeBron James departed to The Los Angeles Lakers. Sexton brought hard work and an underdog mentality to Cleveland and the best option for the Cavaliers might be to resign him.

With all-star point guard Darius Garland leading the charge for the Cavaliers it is understandable that the Cavaliers may have a hard time finding a role for Sexton. Both Garland and Sexton need the ball in their hands for the majority of the plays to work.

Would Sexton come off the bench? Some players thrive off the bench but Sexton does not seem to be one of those players, unfortunately.

Will Sexton get traded?

There is still time for the Cavaliers to figure out what to do with Sexton but for now, we will have to wait and see what happens as there has not been any solid information on if the Cavaliers are serious about trading him or if they are hoping that he will take less money for now and continue to improve the team. Either way, Sexton is a great young player and it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.
