Donovan Mitchell and his Cleveland Cavaliers have been arguably the best team in the NBA this season. While they did not finish with the best record in the league, they might just be the team nobody wants to see in these playoffs. Finishing the season with the Eastern Conference’s number one seed and the second-best record in the league, Cleveland has stepped it up big time. After an extremely easy four-game sweep of the Miami Heat, the Cavs are now ready and waiting for the winner of Milwaukee and Indiana.
According to ESPN, the Cleveland Cavaliers came into game four with only one thing on their mind, and that was victory. It was 48 minutes of consistently great basketball from Cleveland. A true dominant victory that seemed to never waver throughout the entire game. However, Donovan Mitchell had to make sure his troops were still locked in during halftime. This is when Spida made a statement to his team saying that “We had to finish our breakfast.” Cleveland was already up 39 points at that time. If that is not a winning mentality from this team’s best player and leader, then what is? The Cavs whooped the Heat so bad that their head coach, Erik Spoelstra, said that “This series was humbling” during his postgame press conference. Cleveland ran through the Miami Heat, and while the team was firing on all cylinders, one player who stood out was Jarrett Allen.
Cleveland Cavaliers Center Jarrett Allen Sets the Tone For His Team
Jarrett Allen started game four off with a bang. A steal for an easy breakaway dunk during the first possession of the game. After that, the rest of the Cavaliers would turn up. The Cleveland defense was a brick wall around the basket. Steals and turnovers turned into fast-break points by the boatload. However, Cleveland did stop to rain down some threes from time to time. Allen would not stop at the first play, however. The big man would record a double-double with 14 points, 12 boards, 2 assists, and 6 steals. Allen has come a long way from those “bright lights.”
These Cleveland Cavaliers are legit. As they await their next foe, many can’t help but think ahead to the brick wall that sits in the way of a possible trip to the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics. The defending champs are a little beat up right now. However, they have a commanding 3-1 lead over the Orlando Magic. Will it be a Cavs and Celtics Eastern Conference Finals, and are the Cavs ready to do anything it takes to win? Only Time will tell for now.
