TV fans are in for a treat. “The Crown” is set to air its final season on Netflix later this year, but don’t worry, more juicy stories are ahead. The streamer is said to be developing at limited series about America’s royal family, the Kennedys, per Variety. While John F. Kennedy is the most talked-about member of the family, there is plenty to dive into when it comes to the political powerhouse brood.
What will Netflix’s JFK show be about?
Anyone who has followed the Kennedy family knows that JFK’s story is a very interesting one. The young political figure was beloved by millions. While his presidency was a hit with many American citizens, his personal life was full of scandal. He’s been thought to have had affairs behind his wife Jackie Kennedy’s back. He’s even been linked to Marilyn Monroe. John F. Kennedy and his brother Bobby Kennedy have even been speculated to have something to do with the actress’ tragic death.
Of course, JFK’s shocking assassination and the conspiracy behind his death has also been a long-running topic of conversation. Over the years, many TV shows and movies have explored the former President and his family. Like “The Crown,” Netflix could dive into the entire family’s history, including the “Kennedy Curse,” the death of JFK’s son, JFK Jr. and his wife, and so much more. The show has the potential to be a big hit if done correctly.
The outlet reveals that the JFK series may be adapted from the Fredrik Logevall biography “JFK: Coming of Age In The American Century, 1917-1956.” screenwriter Eric Roth is reportedly set to write and produce the series. Of course, fans of “The Crown” will likely enjoy the upcoming series, which is likely to have similar vibes. The historical dramatization will include a lot of big players and casting is sure to make a splash among viewers.
When will the Kennedy series begin airing on Netflix?
Netflix will have to find the right actors to portray JFK at different points in his life. They’ll also have to cast other real-life icons like Bobby Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and others. Now that the writers’ strike has ended, the writing process for the show can begin. However, with the actors still on strike, it’s unclear when any new projects will officially begin development on set.
Fans are hoping that the JFK series can come to fruition in 2024. However, that doesn’t seem likely as the streaming service is known for it’s long wait times between its powerhouse shows like “Stranger Things.”
