‘The Exorcist: Believer’ Explained: Everything You Need To Know

The Exorcist: Believer” has been highly anticipated for months. The horror film has arrived in theaters just in time for spooky season, and fans went out to the box office to check it out over the weekend. Of course, there were a few confusing moments in the film. So, we’re breaking them down for you.

The Exorcist: Believer Ending Explained

Throughout the entire movie, fans watched “The Exorcist: Believer” set up the demonic possession of two young girls, Katherine and Angela. When the girls seemed to be at a breaking point, their parents, along with a group of people representing different religions, gathered together. The gang vowed to help the girls and expel the evil forces from them. They even enlisted the help of Chris MacNeil from the original film. Horror fans will remember Chris as the mother of the possessed girl, Regan. In the newest installment of the franchise, Chris has written a book and helped others dealing with so-called possessions.

A scary moment rendered Chris unable to be at the exorcism of the girls. However, the adults in attendance did all they could to fight for the souls of the children. Eventually, the demon tells the parents of the girls that they’ll have to choose which one lives and which one dies. Katherine’s father reaches a breaking point and can no longer take seeing his daughter suffer. He chooses Katherine, much to the horror of the others. Sadly, this backfires, and Katherine is dragged to hell while Angela gets to live.

Is Regan in The Exorcist: Believer?

Fans were delighted to see Chris MacNeil become part of the storyline during “The Exorcist: Believer.” There was much talk about Regan (Linda Blair) and her whereabouts. Chris admits that the books he wrote about the possession drove Regan into hiding, and the two had been estranged. However, at the end of the movie, the mother and daughter reunite in a sweet moment as actress Linda Blair reprises her iconic role.

Meanwhile, fans were hoping for an after-credits scene that would spook them. However, that wasn’t the case. The movie ended with the credits, but don’t fear. This isn’t the last we’ve seen of this franchise.

Will there be an Exorcist: Believer sequel?

That’s right, there are more “Exorcist” movies on the horizon. Currently, a three-picture deal is said to be in the works. The second movie, which is titled “The Exorcist: Deceiver,” is scheduled to be released in 2025. In addition, a third film, which is currently unnamed, is also expected after that, per NY Times.

“The Exorcist: Believer” hit theaters at a time when fans want to flock to the box office to watch scary films. The movie delivered on the gore and jumpscares, that’s for sure. However, it also honored the original film’s themes of parental love, sacrifice, and heartbreak.
